Understanding Keywords on Each Stage of the Buying Cycle
When embedding or selecting keywords for your web site, think about keywords that attract customers at each stage of the buying cycle. There are three buying cycles for each customer: research, shopping and purchase.
The closer someone is to purchase stage, the more specific the keyword becomes. For example, a customer may search for guitar during research; Gibson Guitar while shopping; and Gibson Acoustic J-2000 Standard when ready to purchase.
Now that you have selected the keywords that applies to your business – what do you do next? There are only two things you can do with keyword phrases – either embed them directly onto your web pages meta tags and alt tags and/or buy these keywords and phrases on your pay-per-click campaigns i.e. Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing and Microsoft Ad Central.
