Online Marketing Companies, an Industry Full of Scams
A long time and awesome client emailed me today about an email offer he received from an online marketing company telling him that they can get his website up on search engine results like Google, Bing, Yahoo and more. We all receive this kind of unsolicited email all the time. After reviewing the email and read up on the marketing companies background and marketing approach, below is my reply to his request:
Ignore these marketing offers!! They are just going to take your money and nothing will happen. In fact, in most cases, websites that do employ these marketing companies end up being banned from search engines because of unscrupulous marketing tactics and borderline methods or sometimes totally out of the ballpark illegal tactics i.e. spamming emails and mirrored pages.
Your company is a target because they see that you’re using Google’s pay-per-click program – and they are aware that 80% of the websites involved in pay-per-click are upset about their results – therefore, they become prey to these types of companies who take advantage of the situation.
Your website’s ranking is AWESOME!!! I just did a quick test – and I’m sure I can back this up with reports as well – using the keyword phrase workover rigs for sale – and your site is number 2 from the top of the page pay-per-click section and again number 2 in the organic listing. You don’t need to do anything to this site other than update the listings from time to time which you already do.
I’ve reviewed and tested a lot of these companies and 90% of them – even the biggest brand name companies – are employing methods that do not provide any benefit to the client. It’s all about profit not service. It’s unbelievable.
