- FAQ - 3rd Party Software Solutions

Why should I use a third party software?
Mainly because of price. A lot of times, your online concept is not exactly new under the sun so why reinvent the wheel when you can buy one off the rack. By doing so, you are saving a ton of money. Another primary reason is that a lot of times, these third party softwares provide the actual codes to the programs which means we can modify them to your specifications thus providing us with a base to start with rather than starting from scratch.
What is the biggest disadvantage to custom designed software besides price?
Function and Features. When creating and designing a software from scratch, whatever features you want or requested will be created and that is all what you get - nothing more. So if you want specific functions such as A, B, C, D and E - that is all you get. If you want F, G and H later down the road, you will need to pay to have these functionalities created and there is no guarantee that it will work smoothly with A, B, C, D and E either. In most cases, they would have to rewrite these other functions in order to accommodate the new functions. With a third party software, the concept, functionalities and codes have been fully tested against one another and a lot of the functionalities are originally requested by the current owners and users of the software who have purchased them therefore, most of the public demands are already incorporated into the software that you are purchasing. Think of Microsoft Office when thinking of 3rd party software. In most cases, you are only using 10-20 Percent of what Microsoft Office provides but you know that it can do more than that! It is simply a matter of finding or turning those features on when you're ready to use them.
What if you don't have the 3rd party software that is compatible to my concept or what I'm looking for?
This does not mean it does not exist. Our first step in custom programming is to first look for similar software that is available on the Internet or in the market. If we can't find one that comes close to your concept, then we can begin to start planning in providing you a custom programming plan. However, if a software that is similar to yours is out there, we will find it and most likely, there will be several to choose from. Naturally, we will qualify these software based on price, functionalities, flexibilities, licensing and support. Thereafter, we will provide you a list of options and our best recommendation, including whether to use a 3rd party software or design your software using custom programming.
Who owns the 3rd party sofware that is used on the finished web site?
You will own the full license and use of the 3rd party software that we purchase on your behalf. In fact, when we purchase the software it will be under your name therefore, the licensing will also be under your name and domain name. Please keep in mind that in some cases these 3rd party software companies ties the licensing to a domain name so if for some reason you decide to change domain name, the license to the software will not necessarily transfer to the new domain name. Permission to do so might be necessary but not guaranteed.
How long do I own the software?
For a lifetime. Most of the 3rd party software that we utilize also includes 1-year of free updates and upgrades. Thereafter, they charge for a nominal fee for the latest updates or upgrades, as an option. However, sometimes it might be necessary to get the latest updates due to new features, security issue or compatibility issue with the latest browser or computer operating system or security settings. In any case, as long as it works why change it.
