VPS or VDS is commonly referred to as a server within a server. It is a method of partitioning a physical server computer into multiple servers such that each has the appearance and capabilities of running on its own dedicated machine. Each VPS or VDS will have and run its own full-fledged operating system, and each server can be independently rebooted without having to reboot the entire physical server computer box. Our recommended use for using a VPS is for web sites that will need a larger size hard drive than our standard shared hosting account. Another good reason is if you intend on hosting other web sites other than your own as an added revenue stream to your company - or simply because you have so many other domain names that it might make more sense running a VPS than acquiring a separate hosting account for each domain name you own. There are many other reasons that would warrant the use of a VPS as opposed to a Dedicated Server or a Shared Hosting Account.
