What is html?

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language. It's the standard language of the Internet's World Wide Web. HTML is used to build and create web pages to display text content and links to other html web pages on the world wide web (www) or commonly referred to as online.

By Dictionary's definition, HTML is a standardized system for tagging text files to achieve font, color, graphic, and hyperlink effects on World Wide Web pages. HTML is used to build web pages on the world wide web.

HTML (Hypertext Markup Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) are two of the core technologies for building cutting-edge Web pages. HTML provides the structure of the page while CSS provides the (visual) layout, for a variety of devices connected online. Combine HTML, CSS, along with graphics and scripting, will be your basis in building beautiful and functional Web Pages and Web Applications.

HTML is the language for describing the structure of Web pages. HTML gives authors the means to:

- Publish online documents with headings, text, tables, lists, photos, etc.

- Retrieve online information via hypertext links, at the click of a button.

- Design forms for conducting transactions with remote services, for use in searching for information, making reservations, ordering products, etc.

- Include spread-sheets, video clips, sound clips, and other applications directly in their documents.

With HTML, authors describe the structure of pages using markup. The elements of the language label pieces of content such as "paragraph," "list," "table," and so on.
